Two for Joy Introductions Blog has Arrived!
Well it’s here! We have finally got round to starting a blog for Two for Joy Introductions. We wanted to use our first blog post to introduce the company and explain what inspired us to start up, and also to let you all know what sort of posts you can expect to see from us in the future.
We are an introductions service that works completely offline and face to face, helping people to meet a new friend or partner. We personally vet all of our members and consider ourselves to be a safer alternative to internet dating. Two for Joy Introductions is a family run business, owned by myself Liz Harwood, and my Mum, Sue Walters. We both come from social care backgrounds and have a wealth of experience in working with people. We are based in the Dearne area, but we operate all over South Yorkshire covering Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster. We are available to people from all walks of life, and all age groups but must be over 18.
There were many things that inspired us to start our business. The first being, that when my Mum and Dad got divorced, my Mum tried internet dating herself, and quickly realized that it was not for her. So she joined an offline dating service (which is no longer in business) in order to meet someone new. Through this service she met her new husband and spent 12 happy years with him before finally tying the knot and getting married last October.
The second reason we were inspired to start our business is nowadays, people don’t go out to meet people anymore, and the most popular way of meeting someone new now is over the internet. However, this comes with certain risks. In the last six years, there has been a 500% increase in the number of reported rapes after meeting someone over online dating. In addition, 10% of women using internet dating have experienced verbal or physical abuse on a first date when meeting someone they met online. Last year we had several friends using internet dating that were putting themselves in very vulnerable positions and when we asked them why, their reply was that there were currently no alternative ways to meet someone new. So we created one!
We decided that their needed to be a safer way to meet someone new, and began planning for our business. Since then, we are now up and running and have seen just how big the demand is for offline dating. We have been featured in several newspapers such as the Sheffield Star and the Daily Mirror, and have also been interviewed on the radio. Our main aim is to make sure that people find exactly what they are looking for, and to find them like-minded people who are serious about meeting someone new.
We are planning to post on our blog regularly and it will feature Top Tips, Top Tens, our views on media reports related to dating, and we will also keep you all informed on what Two for Joy Introductions are up to! Enjoy and watch this space….
